Representation before Courts and Tribunals
We represent goods and passenger operators and their employees in a variety of courts and tribunals. We cover a full range of offences, but are especially skilled in advising on major drivers’ hours investigations. We also have specialist knowledge in a number of fields including the issue of ‘cabotage’.
As well as conducting defence work, we are fully familiar with all aspects of the Operator’s Licence regime and regularly act for those called before Traffic Commissioners to Public Inquiries or driver conduct hearings.
The team provides strong representation to both commercial and private drivers facing prosecution for motoring offences.

Brexit: Life After March
At our Road Transport Conference in November 2018, our team hosted a lively Brexit-based panel discussion to assist the businesses present to identify any contingency areas that need addressing before the UK exits the EU on 29 March 2019.
The phrase most associated with Brexit remains true; “nothing is agreed until everything is agreed”. However, the aim of this discussion was to get businesses thinking about what they need to consider within their own organisations and to try to provide some tips for what kind of contingency plans could be put in place in advance.
We have summarised the discussions which took place, and you can read them here.
As we confirmed at the conference, the answers provided are our best opinion made with information available in late 2018, and given that there remains no certainty about the Brexit deal, if any, or what the United Kingdom’s departure from the European Union will look like. These are by no means definitive answers and are subject to change as we receive further guidance from the government.

Recently one of our Road Transport specialists, Michelle O'Garro, represented a Transport Manager/Operator in a Public Inquiry. Faced with almost certain revocation, the client was delighted when the Traffic Commissioner determined that revocation was unnecessary. Michelle's methodical and meticulous approach to her cases, puts the individuals or companies she represents in the strongest position.
Nathan Taylor-Allkins and Mike Hayward are involved in a variety of cases concerning taxi licensing. They were instructed in the recent High Court decision of Milton Keynes Council v Skyline Taxis.
