Housing market reopens

A plan has been announced by the housing secretary enabling the housing market to reopen immediately, whilst maintaining the social distancing advice.

Estate agents have been advised to see clients by appointment rather than walk in and offer virtual online viewings where possible. Construction companies have been allowed to extend working hours to help with social distancing on sites and a ‘Safe Working Charter’ has been launched by the Government and the Home Builders Federation helping home builders return to work safely. Councils will be asked to consider requests to operate building sites until 9pm to allow for staggered shifts.

Since lockdown began, the 450,000 buyers and renters that were stuck in limbo are now able to move forward and complete on their purchases following the new guidance which can be found here.

If you are in the process of moving house, our conveyancing team are available to help and are contactable via phone, video call and email.
